Cannon and Missouri River - Fort Leavenworth, KS. The Corps passed through present day Kansas City and the mouth of the Kansas River on June 26-28, 1804. By this time, they had traveled 400 miles. On July 1, 1804, they camped opposite today's Fort Leavenworth, one of the oldest U.S. military establishments. Generals from Custer to Patton were posted there.
